Florham Park, N.J., September 20, 2019 — ASCO Power Technologies, the world’s leading provider of critical power solutions, offers the Model 459 Exterior Circuit Surge Protection Hub. The ASCO 400 SERIES SPDs provide class-leading surge mitigation capabilities. Click the following links to view the product webpage, data sheet, product video, and white paper.
The ASCO Model 459 Exterior Circuit Surge Protection Hub is a surge protected tap box designed to simplify compliance with Florida Building Code (FBC) articles 449.3.15.6 & 450.3.19.5 while adopting the NEC 314.28 wiring practices to ensure secure and long-lasting tap connections. Both FBC articles require all exterior electrical circuits to be surge protected with a dedicated SPD.
ASCO’s Exterior Circuit Surge Protection Hub resolves complicated wiring and protection practices with a surge protected tap box that allows installers a centralized location to terminate exterior circuits. The hub is installed during rough-in stage populated with UL 1953 listed finger-safe power distribution blocks which simplifies exterior circuit entry and exit pulls while providing secure compression connections.
Each hub comes configured to surge protect three or six 1, or 2-pole circuits with a max operating current of 35A. Also, since exterior circuits will primarily see line-to-ground surges, the SPDs deployed within our Exterior Circuit SPD come standard with Line-to-Ground and Line-to-Neutral protection. Since service entrance like surge currents can enter through exterior circuits, our SPDs provide 200kA and 100kA surge current capacity for 1-pole and 2-pole circuits, respectively
“A single hub location for monitoring SPDs is ideal for many organizations,” says Marketing Manager Keith Willey. “The ASCO device follows proven NEC wiring practices to ensure secure circuit connections for the operational life of the facility allowing for easy inspection of SPD circuit protection status”
