Entering the TWh Era with Innovations in Battery Manufacturing
Out with "giga", in with "tera". Global lithium-ion battery production capacity stands at roughly 600 GWh per year today and is expected to reach at least 3 TWh by 2030. There is even talk of North American capacity reaching 1 TWh by the end of the decade.
Emerging Recycling Players and Technologies
Something on the order of 3 TWh of batteries are going to be produced annually by 2030. This translates to roughly 12 million kilograms of battery cells. The community is working quickly to build a sustainable battery supply chain.
ASI Supplies Drying System to Energy Storage Provider
ASI, Division of Thermal Technologies, Inc., supplies a single-zone drying system to an energy storage start-up and producer that has developed a commercially viable non-lithium energy storage technology. The single-zone roll-support drying system incorporates both convection and infrared (IR) heating. Both heat sources are electrically powered. Variable frequency drives on the supply and exhaust fans, in conjunction with PLC-based heat and air velocity control loops, allow for precise air temperature and air flow control.
LithTech launches revolutionary technology that increases the production of lithium for batteries
Australian company, LithTech, has launched its 2023 capital raising program to finance the development of its patented magnesium separation technology that significantly increases the brine extraction of critical raw materials, such as nickel, lithium, cobalt, copper, and natural graphite. The University of Queensland's Dow Centre has economically and technically endorsed the technology following successful lab-scale testing, allowing the Company to begin commercialising the technology.
