EnerSys has recently been awarded a long term contract valued at over $71 million for production and supply of its proprietary Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) Hawker ARMASAFE Plus batteries. EnerSys signed a three year contract with an option for two additional years with the US Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) for batteries used by all branches of the US military in combat and tactical vehicles, as well as generators.
“EnerSys has supplied Hawker ARMASAFE Plus batteries to the US military since 2002 and is proud to continue our expanding relationship with the DLA via the award of this competitive, best value contract,” said David Shaffer, President and Chief Executive Officer of EnerSys. “We are honored by this continuation of EnerSys retaining the majority share of the DLA’s estimated annual volume for this size battery and we look forward to continuing our support of the US military.”
The company will continue to produce Hawker ARMASAFE Plus batteries at its highly automated facility in Warrensburg, Missouri where batteries for US Navy nuclear submarines and US military aircraft are also manufactured.
