ENEOS Materials, Keysight Take Inaugural Best of Show Awards at Advanced Automotive Battery Conference

December 12, 2024 | Battery Power Online named its inaugural Best of Show Award at the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference yesterday in Las Vegas. Of the nine finalists chosen from among the new products on display at the event, the attendee community—well more than 1,500—chose to honor ENEOS Materials Corporation and Keysight.

The Best of Show People’s Choice Awards recognize new products in the automotive battery space. The awards competition was open to all the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference exhibitors, and exhibiting companies entered their products for consideration in advance of the event. Nine new products were chosen as finalists. Those new products were on display at the event and attendees voted for the People’s Choice Award once the conference has begun. Please note, selection is not based on level of sponsorship or exhibit participation. Finalists include new products from BattGenie, Chroma Systems Solutions, Dragonfly Energy Corp, MTI Corporation, OnTo Technology, Saint-Gobain, and Tsing Bosch.

The two winning products include binder materials from ENEOS Materials and a new centralized battery pack lab solution from Keysight. Here are their entries:

ENEOS Materials Corporation is a manufacturer of binder materials for lithium ion battery. Though the role of binder material is originally to work as the adhesive agent between active material and current collector, many battery suppliers have recently requested us to actively contribute to improve the battery performance such as fast charging and reduce the environmental impact. For example, our latest Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) binder can drastically decrease cell resistance and improve fast charging performance as an anode binder. Since the fast charging is considered as one of most important items to expand battery electric vehicles, this SBR binder is drawing strong attention from the battery and car manufactures. Also, we have newly developed the eco-friendly acrylate binder which is water based emulsion for cathode electrode and does not include a fluorine group in its polymer structure. This PFAS free binder is expected to be a promising candidate to accelerate the eco-friendly electrode production. We have already started providing binders for all-solid-state batteries, and we are also researching further improvements. And we have been developing binders for dry processes and other innovative batteries. We will continue to play a leading role in CONNECTING THE FUTURE. Even an inactive material in the electrode like binder can be strongly involved with battery performance. The amount of binder in the electrode is very limited, but binder material can give a large influence on battery performance. We believe that our binder material can be helpful for further improvement in the battery technology.
