Boston-Power has achieved ISO/TS 16949 certification, which validates that its design, development and manufacturing processes meet the highest standards for excellence in the automotive industry.
The ISO/TS 16949 certification earned by Boston-Power applies to the company’s battery cell assembly products. Also called “block” products, these assemblies enable the design and implementation of Boston-Power’s industry leading cell technologies to be used in large format battery packs for applications spanning electric vehicles (EVs), robotics and stationary storage. Boston-Power’s first generation battery block product, Swing Key442 Lithium-Ion Block, will be joined by its second generation block product which is scheduled for release later this year.
“Achieving TS16949 certification is a major milestone for Boston-Power as a supplier to the automotive industry,” said Dennis Foley, director of Quality. “Both our automotive and non-automotive customers benefit from this certification which guarantees that our organization follows the strictest rules of quality and process management.”
In order to obtain ISO/TS 16949 certification, a company must demonstrate that it complies with the ISO/TS 16949 quality management system and pass annual surveillance audits by an independent third-party.
The geographic scope of Boston-Power’s ISO/TS 16949 certification includes their R&D facility in Westborough, MA as well as their manufacturing plant in Liyang, China.
