Battery Power Online Announces Finalists in Inaugural Advanced Auto-Battery New Products Competition

Finalists come from BattGenie, Chroma Systems Solutions, Dragonfly Energy Corp, ENEOS Materials Corporation, Keysight, MTI Corporation, OnTo Technology, Saint-Gobain, and Tsing Bosch.

The Best of Show People’s Choice Awards recognize new products in the automotive battery space. The awards competition is open to all the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference exhibitors, and exhibiting companies entered their products for consideration in advance of the event. Nine new products have been chosen as finalists. They will be recognized at the event and attendees are encouraged to explore the novel technologies and solutions firsthand in the exhibit hall and vote for the People’s Choice Award once the conference has begun. Please note, selection is not based on level of sponsorship or exhibit participation.

Finalists were chosen from all of the entries into the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference Best of Show People’s Choice Awards by the Battery Power Online editorial team. Products must have been newly released or significantly improved since December 2023, and they must be available for purchase at the event.

Winners will be chosen by the on-site community voting during the event. Voting links will be available at finalists’ booths and throughout the event. Voting will open when the exhibit hall opens on Tuesday, December 10.

Winners will be announced live at the event on the exhibit hall floor on Wednesday, December 11, during the 1:15 Dessert Break.

Though the role of binder material is originally to work as the adhesive agent between active material and current collector, many battery suppliers have recently requested us to actively contribute to improve the battery performance such as fast charging and reduce the environmental impact. For example, our latest Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) binder can drastically decrease cell resistance and improve fast charging performance as an anode binder. Transportation and storage of lithium-ion batteries at end-of-life is a pain. OnTo’s Battery Neutralization process (US Patent 12,021,202) is the first way to remove hazardous characteristics from batteries to produce “co-product” (material formerly known as batteries). The process recently received positive analysis through a Department of Transportation Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration letter of interpretation (PHMSA-LOI). OnTo’s post process co-product no longer meets the definition of a battery for the purpose of commercial transportation in the public way. This is a very significant LOI, that, combined with Dr. Sloop’s technology could up-end the entire lithium battery recycling industry saving untold millions in commercial transportation cost.
