Crewkerne, UK, 4th April 2024 - Steatite, a leading UK battery pack manufacturer providing power technology solutions for critical applications, has announced it has rebranded its Batteries Business Unit as Custom Power. This change of name marks a strategic decision to align with their sister company in the United States, already trading as Custom Power, and present a unified global identity.

Based in Crewkerne, Somerset, the company supplies custom-built battery packs and battery technology for use in some of the harshest and most demanding environments. Also included in the rebrand is eTech Developments, the consultancy and product development business specialising in electrified powertrain components and systems which was acquired by Solid State Plc – Steatite’s parent company - in 2022.

Sister company, California based Custom Power was acquired by Solid State in 2022. The company is a premier custom battery pack and battery management circuitry designer and manufacturer, specialising in complex medical, aerospace, defence, and industrial applications.

Steatite’s other Business Units, Computing, Communications and Antennas, remain unchanged, all continuing to operate as before under the Steatite brand, alongside its Imaging Business Unit, Active Silicon.

Under the new brand, Custom Power in the UK will continue to offer a comprehensive range of custom battery solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of its diverse customer base. From powering industrial machinery to supporting critical medical devices and enabling cutting-edge UAV technology, Custom Power remains at the forefront of innovation in the battery industry.

"Our decision to rebrand as Custom Power is a reflection of our dedication to providing a seamless experience for our customers worldwide," said Matthew Richards, Managing Director of Custom Power. "By aligning our branding with Custom Power in the US, we are streamlining our operations and expanding our global presence.

While the name of the UK operation may be changing, the commitment to excellence, innovation, and unparalleled customer service remains unwavering. Custom Power will continue to deliver the same high-quality products and solutions that our clients have come to trust over the years.”

The rebranding process will take effect immediately, with all future communications and product offerings reflecting the new name and brand identity. Customers and partners can expect a seamless transition, with all other aspects of the business remaining unchanged.
