Canted Coil Springs for Conducting
BalThe Bal Spring canted coil spring is an electrically conductive component that ensures maximum current or signal transmission in automotive applications. As an electrical contact element, the Bal Spring effectively manages high, medium, and low current with minimal heat rise.

A proven solution already at work in many of today’s top-performing vehicles and platforms, the spring also offers OEMs the ability to shield against EMI/RFI and prevent cross-talk, ensuring the integrity of signal/data transfer between battery packs, power converters, and sensors.

Available in a broad range of coil heights, wire materials, and plating types, the spring maintains a nearly constant force over a broad compression range, compensating for angular misalignment, surface irregularities, and even temperature changes without significant deviation from its initial force. Its independent coils maintain consistent electrical contact, ensuring optimal charging efficiency and current transmission — even under shock and vibration — for improved systems performance and reliability.

In automotive applications, the spring ensures consistent transmission of electricity and electrical signals to the motor during low-speed operation, as well as reliable recharging of the batteries from regenerative braking systems. In external vehicle charging systems, springs can conduct electric power and signals from wall or base units to battery packs. In some designs, canted coil springs also ensure proper charger connection. In addition to its electrical properties, the Bal Spring offers mechanical latching, locking, and holding capabilities that can help reduce system complexity and weight.

Expanding Technology for Advanced Battery Applications & Fuel Cells

dexmetDexmet has taken the “Expanding Technology” to the next generation of advancements, the micro-mesh material manufactured by Dexmet is infinitely variable, and the proprietary equipment developed anddesigned at Dexmet produces expanded material with smaller holes than anyone else and produces material that is thinner than anyone else in our marketplace. The expansion process produces a very consistent product as far as open area, hole size and conductivity.

Dexmet expanded materials are perfect for Advanced Batteries Applications and Fuel Cells, especially where you are using multi stacks of materials and you need consistent conductivity from stack to stack also the expansion process is more cost effective unlike perforated material.

The expansion process allows you to yield higher amounts of material than what you put in, this is especially important when your application requires expensive materials like platinum, niobium, zirconium and titanium.
